A Note from deborah

Is your child feeling overwhelmed, anxious or depressed?  Perhaps you want to give your child the added skills to better equip them to face the challenges of their world. My practice is devoted solely to children from ages 4-17 and their families. As a teacher for 6 years and a therapist for over 10 years, I have focused my training specifically with this age range.

Research tells us that about half of all adults living with anxiety report that their symptoms began in childhood. But there is often an 8-10 year lag from the onset of symptoms to intervention. I believe it is important to arm your child with coping skills now – at their developmental level, that will carry them successfully into adulthood.

I combine empirically based methods (they have been proven to work!) with fun activities for your younger child. I am a registered play therapist which includes sand, toys, paint, etc. For your older child, fun interventions are geared to your child’s interests. Kids enjoy coming!

With teens, I use creative approaches in order to provide them with a safe place to “exhale” and talk about what’s really bugging them. Once I have gained their trust, I offer a place to process issues and introduce successful coping skills that work!

Finally, my goal is always to improve and enhance the parent /child relationship. I hope you will allow me to support you as, together, we replace your child’s hurts and struggles with guidance and hope.
